'No-Shampoo Hairstyles' For When You Don't Have Time To Wash Your Hair

The Huffington Post editors have learned through trial and error that having "dirty" hair isn't such a bad thing. Our locks look and feel much healthier after going days or weeks without shampooing.
Armed with dry shampoo, curl creme or bobby pins, you can easily zhuzh up your hair and feel confident about ditching a wash.
And while these women below may have clean hair, their 'dos are just perfect for those times you haven't shampooed. Here are "no-shampoo hairstyles" you'll swear by when in between washes.

6 Super Simple Ways to Master Color Mixing

Color mixing is not the sort of thing that anyone is born knowing how to do, but that's a good thing. It's not a talent. It's a skill. And like any other skill, it can be learned. Here are six strategies to make it easier.

1. Keep it in the family.
It's pretty straightforward: pastels with pastels, earth tones with earth tones, jewel tones with jewel tones, etc.

2. Use a color wheel to find complimentary colors.
When you're talking about colors, "complimentary" actually means "opposite." Black and white, for instance, are complimentary colors. That's why they look so great together. You know, "opposites attract." That whole thing.
Every color has a complimentary color. It's just whatever is on the opposite side of the color wheel. True complimentary colors are the same distance from the center of the wheel, but it can be very striking to combine a color from the center, like a pale yellow green, with its complimentary color from the outside edge, like a deep mauve.

3. Give it the ombré test.
Different shades of the same color or similar colors almost always look good together (yes, this includes red and pink). If you need some help, do a Google image search for "ombré [insert color here]" and see what pops up.

4. Try the "J.Crew Hack."
J.Crew shoots all their clothes fully styled on a model, and they have a really great way with color. Take the piece of clothing you are looking to build into an outfit, then go on JCrew.com or open one of their catalogues and find something, anything, the same color. Then just make a note of the colors they are combining and copy it with clothes from your own wardrobe. I call it a "J.Crew Hack," but really it works with any brand or site that shoots their clothes on-model: Nasty Gal, Net-A-Porter, Zara. It's just a matter of finding a brand you like and copying the combos they use.

Summer Fashion Trends 2015: The Pieces That Deserve A Chance

This week, we all wore shoes. And while I’m not privy to your choice of footwear over the course of the winter, it’s safe to assume that at no point during the hardest three months of our lives, we all wore combinations of "whatever was warm" and "I don’t care how I look, so leave me alone."
Which is fair. But that time has passed, and with warm weather and hope, we have something even more exciting: options. And despite some of those options prompting knee-jerk reactions and/or cries of "hell no!" we’re still in their corner.
Here’s our list of spring/summer pieces that deserve a chance.
1. Culottes
Culottes seem scary. They seem like the generous cousin of the capri pant, who is controversial on their best days -- let alone when they’re wider, looser-fitting, and usually printed. But where the capri fails, the culotte succeeds: first, unlike the snugness of its counterpart, culottes (as seen in collections by Celine and J.Crew) allow for wind distribution, which matters greatly in warm weather. Second, they’re just early-2000s enough that you can bask in gaucho pant memories without opting for a super-low rise.
2. Jogging Pants
Despite Fran Lebowitz’s claims that yoga pants are ruining everything, 2015’s jogging alternative are the answers to your lazy-ish prayers. Brands like Ashish broke from the cotton-blend traditional and donned styles with sequins and patterns, while Rachel Comey’s resort collection proved you could dress up joggers with a button-up blouse and sandals (versus a hoodie and flip-flops like in university) to justify wearing them out. (Even though for the record, you can always wear out jogging pants and don’t let anybody tell you not to.)
3. Baggy Pants
That’s right, friends: baggy pants. The pants we swore we’d never wear again (even after seeing how tailored they can look courtesy of houses like Balmain). But that’s the thing about this trend: provided you wear a fitted top, anyone can wear them. Like regular jeans, you, me, and that person sitting next to you can wear a wide-legged style -- you just may have to opt for a higher or lower waist depending on your length. (And don’t you dare tell me an elastic waistband isn’t a gift in and of itself.)
4. Baseball Hats
Absolutely I’m going there. To start, they’re not trucker hats, which mean they’re timeless and, well, not trucker hats. Second, they offer a reprieve from the bucket hat, a trend we never thought we’d see again (until we did, and it was too late). The good news is, you can away from the athletic sect that’s come to define baseball hats thanks to brands like Aritzia, who offer faux-leather choices. Now, you don’t have to pledge allegiance to a particular (or any) sports team. You’re welcome.
5. Crop Tops
The rumours are true: we didn’t leave these back in 2014, and I’m not sorry about it. But the good news is that midriff-baring tops are for everybody. First, they accentuate your waist -- which automatically goes in (because that’s how ribcages are structured), so fret not over your body type or whether they “suit” you or anything other than the fact that regardless of anything, you’ll look super-fly wearing one. Second: there are options. Alexander Wang gave us fitted tanks with cut-outs, while Holly Fulton kept her vibe bright and loose. You can even make your own by buying an oversize t-shirt and cutting it as you see fit. Pair it with high-waisted pants, and the world is yours. (Yours!)
6. Sensible Sandals
It’s time to accept that flip-flops aren’t sensible. (They’re bad for your back, and leave your feet dirty and sore.) But sandals by Rag & Bone and Fendi delivered footwear that look like the type your mother urged you to buy over anything we’ve been wearing so far. Low to the ground, easy-to-fasten, and arguably hard to lose (how many times have you fallen out of flip-flops, I ask you), sensible sandals are your gateway into the world of shoes that don’t make you want to weep and/or stop walking.
7. Dress Shorts
Yes you can. Yes we can. Yes everybody can. Chloe’s brand of business short (pleated and high-waisted) may be the first style that comes to mind, but designers like Paul & Joe (with a short and suede look) and Alexander Wang (with a simple grey number) prove that the universe of dress shorts can range from the traditional to the experimental to "perfect to wear with tights come autumn." Thank the cropped pants gods: business and/or dress shorts are not just khaki bermuda shorts anymore.
8. Overalls
If they’re good enough for Rachel Green, they’re good enough for us. Having descended from the same world as crop tops, overalls (first resurging last year, and then staying around for another S/S) are the '90s trend that could. Why? Because they’re not super flattering. On anybody. Which means you just have to wear them, comfortably, happy, and with the knowledge that your inner teen is smiling widely and content in knowing that as an adult, you’re choosing comfort and coolness. But only if you wear them with one strap -- and especially if they’re printed like the ones created by Leonard.

The Hottest Spring Fashion Trends According To Google

Normcore is officially over. According to Google, anyway.
The search giant just released its first-ever report on fashion trends, which analyzed six billion search queries between January 2012 and February 2015. The report is meant to determine the trends people will be wearing this spring.
Google's insight is arguably as close as we can get into the minds of the American public. The company does own 64 per cent of the US desktop search market (and more on mobile), after all. By analyzing peoples' search terms, Google can provide a look at what consumers are thinking and wearing.
So, what is it that we'll be wearing then? Well, according to Google, athleisure enthusiasts can rejoice, because jogger pants are at the top of the list; search growth for joggers has increased 165 per cent! And people weren't searching for just any jogger pants, they were looking for emoji printed versions, as well as camo and floral types. Interesting.
Tulle skirts were also listed as one of the top searched trends, with a growth of over 100 per cent. The report notes that most consumers were searching tutorials on how to make their own versions of the ballet-inspired garment.

Neoprene swimsuits, palazzo pants, high-waisted bikinis, emoji shirts, and midi skirts are other garments among consumers' search terms.
In terms of what's out, the report notes that normcore fashion, one-shoulder dresses, string bikinis, scarf vests (what is a scarf vest?) and skinny jeans are all on the decline.
While the trends themselves may not be all that shocking, it's their origins that's really interesting. For instance, the search trend for tulle skirts stemmed from the West Coast, while the search growth for midi skirts began in the U.K. (Being able to see where the trends we love come from is fascinating stuff!)
According the New York Times, Google's research is part of the company's "bid to become a bigger player in e-commerce and fashion beyond its product search engine or advertising platform."
We can only assume the research will become more in depth with time. We're not sure if we're intrigued, creeped out (they know so much about us!), or a little bit of both. Probably both.
What do you think of the results? Will you be ditching your skinny jeans any time soon? Let us know in the comments below!

Guess Takes A Stand Against Violence For Denim Day 2015

Even more reason to wear denim!
Global lifestyle brand Guess is taking a stand against violence by promoting Denim Day 2015, an event in which people are encouraged to wear jeans in order to raise awareness of rape and sexual assault. The event takes place on April 29 this year.
2015 Spring High Quality Denim Outerwear
The Denim Day movement started in 16 years ago after the Italian Supreme Court infamously overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. The justices felt she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim, which led Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization Peace Over Violence to develop the Denim Day campaign.
In honour of Denim Day 2015, the Guess Foundation will donate $2 for every pair of jeans and select accessories sold from now until Wednesday, April 29th. The donations will provide victims with hotline crisis counseling, therapy sessions with licensed counselors, sexual abuse response teams to accompany rape survivors to hospitals, and an educational high school series on teen dating and violence prevention.
Volunteer training sessions will also be given to crisis intervention specialists and legal advocacy services will be given to survivors. This is the second year Guess is offering its support to the organization.
Additionally, all Guess, Marciano, and G by Guess stores will promote Denim Day with a chain-wide in-store digital and online marketing campaign, starring Yara Khmidan, Simone Holtznagel and Jessica Raemy.
